Tetsushi’s older brother; a second-year student at Join Junior High and the school’s "bancho" (delinquent leader). He is admired by the "Three Prankster Kings," who call him "Big Brother Ryuuya."
Unlike Tetsushi, he excels academically; he is a stoic, unflappable figure with handsome features that actually resemble Shiina’s more than his own brother’s. However, he suffers from severe low blood pressure, leaving him in a semi-invalid state for most of the day. Conversely, he is full of energy at night, with a hobby of wandering the streets late at night under the guise of a "stroll." He is a tough, manly guy with both physical strength and a strong sense of honor.
He is one of the few ordinary people—and the only family member—aware that Tetsushi and his friends are magic users. While he acts as a big-hearted, protective older brother figure, he is also a chronic worrier; he hates the idea of them getting involved in life-threatening situations, so even though he trusts them, he is constantly anxious about their safety.
He dotes on Tetsushi to the point where even their parents are exasperated; he is a devoted "brother-obsessed" type who looks after Tetsushi so much that he has the embarrassing habit of trying to spoon-feed others (saying "say ahhh") just as he does with his brother. Yet, he also has a stern side; when Tetsushi goes too far with some outrageous stunt (even by his usual standards) and nearly gets himself killed, Ryuuya will fly into a rage and scold him fiercely.
