Ryu Roots

Ryu is a young mobile suit pilot and a member of the Taskforce Alpha team, which was formed to suppress the New Desides rebellion in U.C. 0088. His father died during the One Year War, causing him to develop a rebellious and somewhat childish nature as he grew up. When the Taskforce Alpha battleship Pegasus III is sent the powerful S Gundam, where it was subsequently assigned to Ryu, a rivalry forms with fellow pilot Chung Yung. Through interaction with the S Gundam's Battle A.I., ALICE, Ryu becomes less näive and develops a sense of trust with the machine. Ryu's influence also contributes to the growth and development of ALICE.
