Biographie

Bipasha Basu (born 7 January 1979) is an Indian actress and former fashion model who has worked primarily in Hindi cinema, along with appearances in Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, and English films. She began her film career by portraying a negative character in Abbas-Mustan's suspense thriller Ajnabee (2001), earning the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.

Basu's breakthrough role came in Vikram Bhatt's horror film Raaz (2002), for which she received a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Actress. She made her Telugu film debut opposite Mahesh Babu in the western action film Takkari Donga (2002). She later played a murderess in the erotic thriller Jism (2003), earning a Filmfare nomination for Best Villain. Her other Hindi films from the 2000s include the ensemble comedies No Entry (2005) and Phir Hera Pheri (2006), the action thriller Dhoom 2 (2006), and the suspense thriller Race (2008).

She played a corporate executive in Madhur Bhandarkar's Corporate (2006) and Billo Chamanbahar in Vishal Bhardwaj's Shakespearean adaptation Omkara (2006). Her later film roles included the supernatural thrillers Raaz 3 (2012), Aatma (2013), Creature 3D (2014), and Alone (2015). She made her digital streaming debut alongside Karan Singh Grover in the crime thriller web series Dangerous (2020). She has not had a theatrical film release since Alone (2015).
